Deadlines, deadlines, deadlines, Oh my!

Welcome to my first ever Blog! The Conductor is almost done! Yay! Yes, I've missed most of the deadlines I set for myself, but at least this book has taken less then 25 years to produce! This one will be done before Thanksgiving. I am finishing up the edit after my Beta readers and it will go to my final editor by the end of this week. I'm really only a few weeks off my self-imposed deadline, but it's moved three times already! Self-publishing is most definitely all about the journey rather than the destination.

I revealed the cover back in September and thought it would be out by now... NOT! Life has a way of causing interference with best laid plans. However, I am still very optimistic about getting it out and producing a quality read in the next couple of weeks.

Writing this story has been an adventure for me too! I am what is called a “pantser”, meaning that I write by the seat of my pants. So, I don’t use an outline, and until I write the words, I don’t always know what direction the characters are going to take me. When I started this manuscript for The Conductor, I knew how the book would start, and I had a good idea of where it would end. But I didn’t have a clue as to how I was going to get there. That’s where the characters come in. I am at their mercy for the content. It’s my job to put the words together to get their points across.

The Conductor will answer many questions left unanswered in Harlem Angel, but there are new developments that I hope will have readers shaking their heads in surprise, and maybe some shock and awe. More coming soon!
